山頂纜車（1888年5月30日至今）是香港最早運作的機動公共交通工具，也是亞洲地區第一條纜索鐵路，來往香港島的中環花園道和太平山爐峰峽。 山頂纜車路軌全長1.4公里，坡度4至27度，海拔28米至396米，車站包括花園道總站、堅尼地道站、麥當勞道站、梅道站、白加道站和山頂總站，來往兩個總站車程約8分鐘。 山頂纜車靠直徑44毫米及斷裂應力139公噸的鋼纜拉動，路軌軌距1520毫米，全程大部分地方均是單軌行駛，唯於中央位置，設有兩組路軌供兩部纜車交叉上落。 山頂纜車由兩部鉸接式纜車以相反方向行走，每個小時可載2,800名人次。
